Seeking an HSP-knowledgeable Therapist?

Licensed therapists and counselors who have completed a program with Elaine on psychotherapy with HSPs

All in this list have attended a course on the subject or studied and passed a test on the information in the DVD: A Live Seminar On Psychotherapy and The Highly Sensitive Person, or the book: Psychotherapy and the Highly Sensitive Person. Note: Elaine does not know personally most of the people on this list and being on it does not mean she recommends them beyond the requirements of this list.  That is, these are therapists who have made the effort to learn more about HSPs.  (Good for them!)  But they are not therapists “certified” by her, or any term like that, in general.  If she knew them, she might or might not be comfortable with their methods or even their personalities.  Their suitability for you is completely up to you. You may also want to read what she has written on how to find a good therapist.)

PsyPact Therapist: In addition to searching by state, normally therapists are restricted to practicing only within the state where they are licensed.  But PsyPact therapists are those living in a state that has an arrangement with other states that are part of PsyPact such that they can do phone therapy with someone living in any PsyPact state.  Not all states participate, however.

If you would like to work with someone virtually (and probably never see them face-to-face), perhaps because you do not see anyone on your state list who seems to meet your needs, then check to see if you live in a PsyPact state by checking this map.  https://psypact.site-ym.com/page/psypactmap.  If you live in a PsyPact state, you can go to this list of therapists.  They are listed twice on this website, once in the state where they are fully licensed and once as doing phone therapy in PsyPact any state.

Currently the following states offer PsyPact services: AL, AZ, AR, CO, CT, DE, DC, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MN, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, OH, OK, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV, WI
